Do you know how to switch off fully for the weekend after what's been a hectic working week!?
For many of us, it feels impossible to switch off from work the second the clock strikes five on a Friday evening.
Often, we view our weekends as a time to catch up and deal with the over flowing washing - food shopping - preparing for the week ahead etc etc rather than actually taking some down time.
So yes that never ending pile of washing may be sitting staring at you - take a minute:
The key here is to be realistic with your time. After all, you can’t perform to the best of your abilities if you can’t switch off from work. Try scheduling in your downtime alongside your work schedule.
Stop checking your emails on the weekend and yes we fully know this is a difficult habit to kick - the team at Elite Touch Group are all guilty of doing it. We find it incredibly hard to switch off! As a team we all agreed to switch off at a normal time today.... did that happen.. of course it didnt.. everyone "finished" for the day and headed home and then suddenly our work chat is going off where the staff are speaking to candidates - negotiating offers and helping new candidates who are seeking help and then here I am at 20:48pm writing our latest blog..
So what we're trying to tell you is we know its not easy to switch off– especially since we all have smartphones it's all easily acceptable.
So, what’s the solution?
In order to combat this issue, we recommend taking 10 minutes each Friday to write down all of your tasks for the coming week.
Not only does this help to clear your mind, but it also makes scheduling your week on a Sunday evening much quicker (meaning you can enjoy more of your weekend). With just a few minutes of prior planning on a Friday evening, you’re able to enter the weekend knowing exactly what you can expect come Monday morning and shouldn't feel tempted to check those emails....
Can you do it?
Can we do it...
Have a great weekend all.
